Lakeville South Upsets Woodbury to Advance to State Semifinals

Lakeville South reached the Class 6A state football semifinals with a 28-14 upset win over Woodbury Friday night in Osseo.

The Cougars opened the scoring in the first quarter when Tavian Laden broke a 40-yard touchdown run. Lakeville South would then pull ahead 14-0 in the second quarter when Jared Stewart scored the first of his two touchdowns. Johnny Shabaz added a 55-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Stewart found the end zone for the second time in the fourth quarter.

Brock Rinehart and Zach Ames scored Woodbury's touchdowns.

Lakeville South only went 3-5 in the regular season but will now face rival Lakeville North in the state semifinals on November 16 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
