One day after a scheduled meeting between Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler and Tom Thibodeau, the team's president of basketball operations and coach, The Athletic reported that Butler has requested a trade. KSTP Sports has independently confirmed Butler's trade request.

ESPN adds that Butler told the Wolves that he'd sign an extension with the Nets, Knicks, and Clippers, a probable push toward them to send him to one of those three teams.
