Former Maple Grove HS Star Jake Wieneke Excited to Get NFL Career Going

April 24, 2018 02:45 PM

Former Maple Grove high school and South Dakota St. wide receiver Jake Wieneke will get a phone call this weekend that he's been dreaming about for years. It'll come from some NFL front office, either in the form of welcoming him as a draft pick or to congratulate him on signing a free-agent contract.

KSTP Sports recently caught up with Wieneke at his one of workouts with GameFace Training.

Wieneke, who is 6-feet-4, 213 pounds, holds just about every receiving record at South Dakota St. He's been drawing interest from the 49ers, Saints, Vikings, Ravens, Jets, Texans, Dolphins, Panthers, and other teams. Some have him with a draft grade, while others are said to like him as a priority undrafted free agent.

Whether chosen this weekend, or signing as a free agent, Wieneke will have every opportunity to impress a team.
