Hopkins Boys Basketball Takes Down Top-Ranked Edina

The Hopkins Royals boys basketball team defeated the Edina Hornets 81-59 on Friday night at the Lindbergh Center at Hopkins High School.

Edina came out of the gates draining three-pointers, lead by seniors Luke Glenna and Anders Nelson. Glenna scored 17 points and Nelson scored 23 to go along with three three-pointers. 

Royals forward Zeke Nnaji recovered from first half foul trouble to score 20 points, in addition to eight rebounds. Junior forward Dan Zimmer also added a spark off the bench, chipping in with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Wisconsin Badgers head coach Greg Gard was in attendance to scout Nnaji, as well as watch his future player, Joe Hedstrom. Hedstrom scored seven points to go along with seven rebounds.

Hopkins plays St. Louis Park in their next matchup, while Edina faces Delano.
