Gophers beat Coppin State 84-52, Whalen is now 10-0 on the season

Minnesota improved to 10-0 on the season with an 84-52 victory over Coppin State, Wednesday night at Williams Arena.

The 10-0 start is the third best in program history behind a 15-0 run to open the 2003-04 season and a 12-0 mark to begin the 2002-03 campaign. Additionally, the team's 10-game winning streak is tied for the fifth longest in program history.

Senior Kenisha Bell was one of three in double figures for Minnesota, leading all scorers with 20 points for her fifth 20-point game of the season. She was 7-of-12 from the floor and a perfect 5-of-5 at the free throw line. Bell added five assists, four steals and a pair of rebounds.

Sophomore Destiny Pitts continued her hot shooting to finish with 14 points and four rebounds. She was 5-of-6 from the field, including a 4-of-5 mark behind the 3-point line.

The Gophers next game is on December 22nd when the team hosts Rhode Island.
