Gophers RB Shannon Brooks Out for 2018 Season

Gopher football coach P.J. Fleck dropped a bombshell in the middle of his pre-spring practice press conference on Tuesday morning announcing running back Shannon Brooks suffered a "non-contact lower leg injury" in offseason workouts and will miss the 2018 season.

Brooks will be a senior during the 2018 season, but will now redshirt and play his final season with the Gophers in 2019.

When healthy, Brooks and Rodney Smith have bee a dynamic duo in the Gophers backfield the last few seasons.  

Brooks sat out half of last season due to injuries.  He played in six games, rushing for 369 yards on 79 carries.  

Brooks has 17 rushing touchdowns and 2 receiving TDs in his three seasons.
