Gophers' Fleck: 'I really like this football team'

Updated: August 17, 2019 08:27 PM

After winning three of their final four games of 2018, you can understand if Gophers players and coaches alike are getting a little antsy to begin the 2019 season.

"I feel great. I feel calm. I'm not sure if the people around me probably think that. But I just think that I really like this football team," Head Coach P.J. Fleck said on Friday. "I've said it before. Whatever happens throughout the year. I mean, that's what's coming. But this is such a fun team to coach. They respond to everything our coaches do, say, and it's becoming a player lead team. Our best players are our hardest workers. That's when it's fun. That doesn't mean you're perfect."

The Gophers open the season against South Dakota State on Thursday, August 29 at TCF Bank Stadium.
