Gophers' Curry staying positive despite season-ending injury

Updated: October 18, 2019 05:42 PM

The University of Minnesota Gophers men's basketball team held their annual media day at Williams Arena on Friday.

Before the season even started, the team was dealt a tough blow with the loss of redshirt junior forward Eric Curry. He will miss the entire season after suffering a knee injury in practice.

Curry was with the team for their team picture today and will continue to be a positive influence as the season progresses.

"I can't believe his attitude. It's phenominal," Gophers head coach Richard Pitino said about Curry. "No feeling sorry for himself. Very, very positive."

"Look at the positive side. I'll just come back stronger," Curry told KSTP on Friday. "I'm here for the guys. It's frustrating, but I'll be back better than ever."

The Gophers open the regular season against Cleveland State at Williams Arena on Tuesday, November 5.
