Edina beats Blake to advance to Girls' State Hockey Tournament

In front of a capacity crowd at Parade Ice Garden, the Edina beat Blake 3-2 to advance to the Girls' State Hockey Tournament. The Hornets are the two-time defending state champions in Class 2A.

The teams split their two regular season games. The Blake School got on the board first thanks to an Izzy Daniels power play goal in the second period putting the Bears up 1-0.

Edina didn't trail for long. Tella Jungels found the back of the net to tie the game at one. The Hornets took a 3-1 lead with goals by Katie Davis and Mallory Uihlein. The star of the game was Edina senior goaltender Elli Strittmater who finished with 29 saves.

The Minnesota State Girls Hockey Tournament starts on Wednesday, February 20th at the Xcel Energy Center.
