Eden Prairie outlasts Chaska in Section 2AA Boys Hockey Semifinal

After Chaska stormed out to an early 2-1 lead, Eden Prairie scored six of the final seven goals in their 7-2 Section 2AA Semifinal win at Braemar Arena on Saturday.

2nd-seeded Chaska took their 2-1 lead on goals from Rhett Pitlick and Blaine Warnert in the first 12:27 of the first.

Drew Holt scored in-between to get 3-seed Eden Prairie on the board.

Two more goals 1:20 apart from Jack Jensen and Riku Brown had Eden Prairie up 3-2 after one.

Carter Batchelder and Jensen added second period goals to bump the Eagles lead to 5-2.

Chaska's Mike Koster briefly stopped the momentum with a goal 8:09 into the third, but John Mittelstadt followed up 20-seconds later to bump the Eden Prairie lead to 6-3.

Luke Mittelstadt closed out the scoring for the Eagles with just under two minutes to go.

Axel Rosenlund made 31 saved to earn the win.

Eden Prairie will play Holy Family in the Section 2AA Championship game on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Mariucci Arena.

Holy Family - the 5th-seed in the section - upset #2-ranked and #1-seeded Minnetonka 2-1 in overtime.
