The New York Jets selected former Gophers linebacker Blake Cashman in the 4th round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Cashman, an Eden Prairie native, was the 157th overall pick in the draft. He began his college career as walk-on at the University of Minnesota, but earned a scholarship in 2017 and developed into an All-Big Ten linebacker and a captain for the Gophers defense. He started 11 of the 12 games he played in as a senior in 2018 and led the Gophers with 104 tackles.

Cashman's draft stock rose after impressive showings at the NFL Scouting Combine and the Gophers pro-day.

Former Wisconsin Badger linebacker Ryan Connelly was drafted 14 picks ahead of Cashman. Connelly and Cashman were teammates at Eden Prairie High School.
