Co-Coordinators Andre Patterson and Adam Zimmer ready to take over Vikings defense

The Minnesota Vikings will have co-defensive coordinators for the upcoming season. Adam Zimmer and Andre Patterson will both be at the helm for the Vikings defense.

Adam Zimmer is head coach Mike Zimmer’s son. Adam will begin his seventh year wit the Vikings in 2020. To go with his new coordinator role, he will still serve as the coach for the linebackers. In Zimmer’s six seasons with the Vikings, the defensive unit ranks in the top of the league in third down conversions (first, 36.1%), offensive points allowed (second, 181), opponent yards per game (third, 321.8), and sacks (third, 260).

Patterson will begin his ninth season with the Vikings and will continue his role with the defensive line. In 2019, the Vikings posted 30 defensive takeaways, the third-best mark in the league with 17 interceptions (third in NFL) and 14 fumble recoveries (fifth in NFL). Patterson has a teaching background and will implenment his educational techniques with the defense as a whole.
