Henry Eischen opened the scoring for the Pioneers with goals in the first and second periods.

Charlie Strobel bumped Hill-Murray's lead to 3-0 with 3:10 left in the second.

White Bear's Chase Hamstad snapped Pioneer keeper Remington Keopple's shutout bid later in the second, but that was all the Bears could do.

Stephen Uremovich made 16 saves in the loss for the Bears.

While accurate historical records are tough to find for many teams statewide, it's hard to think any Minnesota high school rivalry has been renewed in the postseason more often than Hill-Murray and White Bear Lake.

Since private schools joined the State Hockey playoffs 44 years ago, the Pioneers are 21-6 against their rivals from White Bear Lake - including a 4-0 record against White Bear Lake's Mariner High School in the 1970's.

This year's win gives Hill-Murray a 13-4 advantage in Section Final clashes with White Bear Lake, and an overall record of 60-24-3.
