Boys Hockey: Centennial Avenges Loss to Maple Grove in Section Final

After exchanging goals all the way into a third period 3-3 deadlock, Centennial scored three straight to put Maple Grove away with a 6-4 win in the Section 5AA boys hockey Final.

William Francis, Hayden Brinkner and Lucas McGregor turned the 3-3 tie into a 6-3 Centennial lead.

Maple Grove's Trevor Kukkonen scored with 3:01 left to give Maple Grove hope, but Cougar keeper Travis Allen closed out an 18-save effort that sends the Cougars to their 4th State Tournament appearance.

Maple Grove opened the scoring with a tally from Matt Jaglo 7:22 into the game.  Tyler Kostelecky scored twice for the Crimson in the build-up to the decisive 3rd period.

Andrew Stuart, McGregor and Carter Wagner accounted for Centennial's first three goals.
