Bethel Football Ready for Saturday's Playoff Opener vs. Wartburg (IA)

Bethel earned a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs for the ninth time and will host Wartburg (Iowa) in a first-round game at noon Saturday in Arden Hills.

The Royals (9-1) finished second in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference behind St. John's, while Wartburg (8-2) won the American Rivers Conference.

The Royals finished a 9-1 regular season in style last Saturday by rushing for 217 yards to beat No. 9-ranked St. Thomas University 21-15.

The win against the Tommies was head coach Steve Johnson's 216th career victory. He's led the Royals to all nine of the team's playoff appearances.
