Golf's "Queen" Annika Sorenstam hosts elite college tourney in Lake Elmo

Golf legends Arnold Palmer - nicknamed "The King" - and Annika "The Queen" Sorenstam collaborated to re-design the Lake Elmo golf course now fittingly called "The Royal Club".  This week, Sorenstam is hosting some of the nation's top women's college golf teams at the course for the 5th annual Annika Intercollegiate tournament.

Sorenstam's East Metro gathering attracted college golf elite this year.  Defending NCAA champions Duke (#2 ranked) are playing, as are national runners-up and 3rd-ranked Wake Forest.  The powerhouse field is rounded out by #1-ranked Southern Cal, #4 Texas, #6 Arkansas, #7 Arizona, #13 South Carolina, #14 UCLA, #15 Arizona State, #17 Virginia, defending Annika Intercollegiate champion Alabama and the hometown Minnesota Gophers.

The tournament concludes Wednesday. It is open to the public,admission is free.

The tournament is sponsored by 3M and runs with support from the Annika Foundation - Sorenstam's effort that provides opportunities in women's golf at the junior, collegiate and professional levels as well as helping promote healthy, active lifestyles for children
