Whalen says she's been truly blessed throughout her life.

"Great parents who raised us here and I'm really thankful and definitely blessed to be from here," Whalen said.

It takes dedication and a relentless pursuit of greatness to leave Hutchinson to national prominence during her college career, to the WNBA and on to coaching her college alma mater.

"It just shows that if you work hard and you really dedicate yourself to something that really good things can happen," she said.
