No. 1 Andover boys hockey take down No. 7 Centennial

The No. 1 Andover Huskies (Class 2A) boys hockey team defeated the No. 7 Centennial Cougars (Class 2A) 7-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Sports Arena.

Centennial struck first when AJ Carls scored to make it 1-0 in the first period. Andover would answer when Brooks Cogswell made it a 1-1 game. Then, the Cougars would answer with a Owen Van Tassel goal to make it 2-1 Centennial after the first period. All first period goals were scored on a power play.

In the second, the Huskies would make it 2-2 when Cayden Casey scored an absolute beautiful goal between his legs. Andover would then take the lead when Logan Gravink scored to make it 3-2 Huskies. However, the Cougars would tie the game when Cade Anderson scored to make it 3-3. With just one minute left in the second period, Gavyn Thoreson scored a short-handed goal for the Huskies to make it 4-3 heading into the final period.

Andover put the game away in the final period. Cogswell scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-3 Andover. Then, Casey scored his second goal of the game to make it 6-3 Andover. The teams would trade another goal each to make it the 7-4 final.
