In one of the only divided legislatures in the country, we overcame political differences and put together a budget that improves lives across the state of Minnesota.#mngov #mnleg #OneMinnesota pic.twitter.com/lQ4wWuzZzK
"At a time when politics is filled with chaos and division, Minnesota is showing the rest of the nation there's another way to govern," Walz said in a statement.
Later in an interview recorded for Sunday's broadcast of "At Issue with Tom Hauser," the governor admitted the process of agreeing to a budget with lawmakers was messy but resulted in a product Minnesotans can be proud of.
"We came together and proved that divided government can work," Walz said in the interview. "We focused on those priorities that I talked about and I would argue that the legislators talked about. Protecting health care for Minnesotans, making sure education funding... is adequate. And then doing the things that our communities need to make sure they're thriving from Warroad to Winona. So I think this session proved against a backdrop of a lot of dysfunction in politics that we could do it. Minnesota wins."
You can see the entire interview with Gov. Walz Sunday at 10 a.m. this Sunday on "At Issue."
