The White House says President Biden will stop in Rosemount on Tuesday to promote the bipartisan, $1.2 trillion infrastructure law at Dakota County Technical College. The school has programs that train workers on building, maintaining and operating infrastructure supported by the infrastructure bill.

"The location of a technical college makes sense given the bill is jobs-oriented and the idea of training people and increasing skilled labor in the 2nd District is an appealing theme," says Carleton College political analyst Steven Schier.

He will deliver remarks on the law, including how the legislation would create well-paying union jobs and improve infrastructure for supply chains, subsequently lowering prices.

However, Schier says there were likely political considerations in choosing where to hold the event on Tuesday.

"The location choice is very political," Schier told 5 Eyewitness News. "This is I think the most at-risk Democratic seat in Minnesota. And therefore talking about a bipartisan infrastructure bill in that district might help the incumbent Angie Craig."

A spokesman for Craig confirms she will be at the event in her district. Craig and two other Democratic House members from Minnesota voted for the infrastructure bill. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and all four Republicans Minnesota House members voted against it.

Biden's stop in Minnesota on Tuesday will be his first since being elected president. A spokesman for Governor Tim Walz confirms the governor will also attend the event with the president.
