North Branch Mayor to Seek Eighth District Congressional Seat

North Branch mayor Kirsten Kennedy, a Democrat, says she will run for the open U.S. Representative seat in the state's Eighth Congressional District, Duluth TV station WDIO reports.

Kennedy has also established a campaign Facebook page.

Incumbent Democrat Rick Nolan announced Friday he would not seek reelection this November.

Kennedy is in her second term as the mayor of North Branch, and also an independent contractor for the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership in Chisago County.
