A Nashwauk native and daughter of a miner announced she plans to run as a Democrat for Minnesota's 8th Congressional District, according to WDIO-TV in Duluth, a Hubbard-owned station

Marje Holmstrom-Sabo made the announcement on Tuesday.

The Iron Range native says she doesn't have any experience in politics, however, she sees that as a strength.

"I have no preconceived notions about how I will be treated," she said after her announcement. "My background is in technical communication. I'm used to talking to engineers and business people and lawyers, and absorbing that information and creating an output that other people can understand."

Holmstrom-Sabo currently lives in St. Paul but plans on buying a home in the district.

Soren Sorensen and Quinn Nystrom have also announced plans to run.
