Omar's Challenger
Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has her first challenger for 2020. Chris Kelley, who is 50 years old and is a 20-year veteran of the Minneapolis Police Department, said he wants to continue public service in Congress as a member of the Independence Party. Kelley said he decided to run for Omar’s seat after hearing a comment from Omar about the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Steve Drazkowski Speaks Out Against Omar
State Representative Steve Drazkowski is speaking out against Ilhan Omar once again. He is calling her a fraud and a criminal. Drazkowski says Omar cheated on her taxes, lied about her marriage and profited from her campaign funds. Meanwhile, pro-Omar group “Take Action Minnesota” said Omar is being targeted for speaking out against President Donald Trump and for being a Muslim-American woman.

Hands-Free Law Makes Waves
This week, several new laws will be enforced here in Minnesota. The much-talked about Hands-Free law will also be enforced. That means if you are driving and using your phone to make calls, text, listen to music or get directions, it has to be by voice commands or with a single touch without holding the phone. Those who violate the law will be fined $50. Then, every ticket after that will be $275 along with court fees.

Klobuchar Sounds Off On Officer-Involved Shootings
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is sounding off on officer-involved shootings across the U.S. She spoke at the National Urban League Conference in Indianapolis. Klobuchar said when investigating officer-involved shootings, it is important to use body cameras, DNA review and video tape interrogations as part of the process. Klobuchar said if she was elected president in 2020, she would make it a major priority for the civil rights division to have a major say and weigh in on some officer-involved shooting cases.
