UPDATE 9:06 p.m.

The Associated Press is reporting that Tom Emmer has been declared the winner in the 6th Congressional District race against Ian Todd.

UPDATE 9:05 p.m.

As of 9:05 p.m., Tom Emmer is leading the race with 79,169 votes, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State's office.

Ian Todd is trailing with 53,563 votes.

According to the Secretary of State's office, a total of 116 precincts have reported results.


UPDATE 8:30 p.m.

As of 8:30 p.m., Tom Emmer is leading the race with 7,722 votes, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State's office.

Ian Todd is trailing with 4,631 votes.

According to the Secretary of State's office, a total of 15 precincts have reported results.


Voters went to the polls Tuesday, casting their ballots in the mid-term elections.

Republican incumbent Tom Emmer was taking on Democrat  Ian Todd in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District. 

District Race Coverage

Emmer has held the seat formerly held by fellow Republican Michele Bachmann since first being elected in 2014. He is opposed by Todd, an Air Force veteran.

The district includes most or all of Benton, Carver, Sherburne, Stearns, Wright, Anoka and Washington counties - including the city of St. Cloud.
