New KSTP/SurveyUSA Poll Shows Walz with Edge over Johnson in Governor's Race

With less than two months until election day, we have our first look at where the race for governor stands in Minnesota. Our exclusive KSTP/SurveyUSA poll shows DFL candidate Tim Walz leading Republican candidate Jeff Johnson 47 to 40 percent. Ten percent of voters remain undecided.

The question surveyed 574 likely voters in Minnesota and has a margin of error of 4.9 percent. 

When you break down the numbers further, Walz has a large lead over Johnson in the Twin Cities urban core area, 60 to 26 percent. Johnson leads Walz in greater Minnesota, 47 to 38 percent. In the suburbs, the candidates are tied at 44 percent apiece. 

Competing Television Ads in 3rd Congressional District Put to "Truth Test"

Minnesota's Third Congressional District race between Republican incumbent Erik Paulsen and Democratic challenger Dean Phillips is already shaping up to be one of the most expensive congressional races in the country. There are several TV ads now airing that target both candidates.
