The conservative-leaning Alpha News filed the lawsuit, which the Star Tribune later joined. The media outlets argued there is renewed interest in the records from Ellison's 2012 divorce from his ex-wife, Kim Ellison, following accusations of domestic abuse by Ellison's ex-girlfriend, Karen Monahan.

Ellison argued unsealing the divorce file would cause greater harm to him and his family.

Lieutenant Governor Candidates in Studio

No matter who wins this year's governor's race, it's guaranteed that the new lieutenant governor will make history. Both DFL candidate Peggy Flanagan and Republican candidate Donna Bergstrom have Native American heritage - Flanagan is a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe and Bergstrom belongs to the Red Lake Nation. Whomever wins, they'll be the first Native American woman to hold the office of Lieutenant Governor and the first Native American woman to hold statewide office.

Both Flanagan and Bergstrom joined Tom Hauser in studio to discuss the issues that are important to Minnesota voters on Election Day, including health care insurance and health care costs, transportation costs, budget priorities, IT-related issues and their focus for the office.
