There are a variety of hunting and trapping seasons in Minnesota. Here's a guide to help you prepare.

Hunting Season Requirements

Purchase a hunting license. Hunters must have a valid hunting license, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Licenses can be purchased at any DNR license agent, online or by calling 888-665-4236.

Understand regulations. Minnesotans planning to participate in hunting season are asked to understand the 2019 Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations Booklet.

During the Season

Mandatory CWD testing. For the 2019 deer season, mandatory chronic wasting disease (CWD) testing is expanded in a new hunting zone in Central Minnesota around a deer farm where deer tested positive for CWD. Testing is also expanded in southeastern Minnesota where CWD has been found in wild deer for years. This year, the zone is all the way down to the Iowa border. More information can be found here.
