Police are investigating after a person was found dead Friday morning in Robbinsdale.

According to Robbinsdale Police, officers were called to the area of 35th Avenue and Grimes Avenue for a welfare check at 9:15 a.m.

After entering a home, officers found a woman who was dead.

Police said the death was ruled a homicide and doesn't appear to be random.

Just after 9 p.m., officers from several agencies worked together and took a suspect into custody in Brooklyn Center, the department said. Brooklyn Center Police said the arrest was made after 10 hours of negotiations with the suspect, who was inside a home in the 6200 block of Unity Avenue.

The investigation remains active.
