Police have arrested a man for fatally shooting a woman in a retail parking lot in Brooklyn Park.

Brooklyn Park Police said officers in the area of 5800 Brookdale Drive were flagged down by a group of people at about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers administered first aid until an ambulance arrived, but the 35-year-old woman died later at a hospital.

Authorities say witnesses reported the woman was talking with a man in the parking lot before she was shot, then a man and woman in an SUV fled the scene.

A man identified as James Alvin Hill, 31, was taken into custody and is expected to be charged, according to police. Three others were also arrested.
