WATCH: KSTP's Jay Kolls Speaks With His Son About His Military Friendship with California Shooter

Taylor Kolls, the son of KSTP reporter Jay Kolls, served with 29-year-old Ian David Long in the U.S. Marine Corps between 2008 and 2010.

He said he developed a close friendship with the man authorities say killed 12 people at a California bar late Wednesday and sent hundreds fleeing in terror before he apparently killed himself.

Taylor said he often stayed at Long's Thousand Oaks home with Long's mother.
