Deputies helped multiple people out of a residence. One deputy reported a firearm was discharged during the evacuation.

The sheriff's office said a suspect fled into a wooded area near the residence.

Just before 9 p.m., the sheriff's office said the suspect was "contained in a residence" and there was no longer a threat to public safety.

The area of 70th Street South between Neal Avenue South and Odell Avenue South was closed.
