Gov. Tim Walz was on hand to speak as a number of new U.S. citizens took their Oath of Allegiance at the State Capitol Rotunda Monday morning.
Walz spoke at the naturalization ceremony, welcoming those who have completed the process of becoming a citizen.
"Thank you," the governor told those assembled. "Thank you for choosing to bring your talents, to bring your time, to bring your efforts, to making Minnesota your home. And to making the state and the country stronger."
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services reports 716,000 citizens were naturalized in fiscal year 2017 nationwide.
