The governor has ordered flags at half-staff on Friday in honor and remembrance of the DNR conservation officer who died after being thrown from a boat last weekend.

Gov. Tim Walz ordered all U.S. and Minnesota flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in Minnesota on Friday, the day of conservation officer Eugene Wynn's funeral.

More from KSTP:

Wynn died last Friday after he and a deputy were thrown from a boat while responding to a report of a body found floating in Cross Lake. The deputy was rescued, but Wynn slipped below the water before others could get to him, the Pine County Sheriff's Office said.

A visitation for Wynn will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the service set for noon at the Pine City Civic Center.

A large turnout from the Minnesota law enforcement community is expected.
