5 EYEWITNESS NEWS obtained video from a security camera that caught a gunfight between several people last Saturday night in the 700 block of Fifth Street East in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood.

The video captures 18 seconds of chaos as multiple people scatter along Fifth Street and indiscriminately begin firing weapons at each other.

St. Paul Police said it was a "miracle" no one was injured in the shootout which happened around 11:15 p.m.

Sources told KSTP police recovered 47 shell casings and a magazine for a Glock pistol inside the home where the shooting started.

One neighbor, who did not want their name used, told KSTP there were "loud bangs" and the family started scrambling for safety.

"It was almost surreal as we heard the shots and then glass breaking," said the neighbor. "We later realized that the house had been hit and bullets had gone through two of our windows and one hit the wall of our bedroom and it was intense and scary."

KSTP checked police records for the house where the shooting reportedly started and found police visited the home 33 times over the past two years and many of those contacts were for domestic assault, aggravated assault and a stabbing in October 2019.

The landlord told KSTP he asked the tenants Tuesday to leave the home within the next seven to 10 days.

St. Paul Police declined to comment on the shooting because it's an open investigation.
