Enjoy Winter Recreation
Get out and enjoy recreational winter sports around the metro. Looking to speed downhill on skis or a snowboard? Hyland Hills, Afton Alps and Buck Hill may just be the place to go. Speeding downhill not your thing? Try out cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Minnesotans can rent equipment for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing through Three Rivers Park District, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and St. Paul parks and recreation.
Excelsior Ice Castles
Explore the frozen wonder of the Excelsior Ice Castles over the weekend. According to the organization that builds the creations, the Excelsior exhibit is one of six in the country. The castles include lit sculptures, frozen thrones, slides and more.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Passport to Spring
Tired of winter? See what is in bloom at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's Passport to Spring. This year's flower show includes nine displays that feature a different country and tell their stories through their flowers, according to event organizers.

Minneapolis Home and Garden Show
The Minneapolis Home and Garden Show is set to return to the Minneapolis Convention for two weekends. This is the 85th year celebrating its operations. This year's event includes feature gardens, floral displays, customizable options for your home, deck wars and more.

Pert Near Sandstone's Winter String Band Gathering
Get down to some local bluegrass and folk music during Pert Near Sandstone's Winter String Band Gathering at the Cedar Cultural Center. Performing alongside Pert Near Sandstone is Feeding Leroy.

Time: Doors at 7 p.m., show at 8 p.m.

Big Turn Music Fest
Take in the music of top regional acts during the Big Turn Music Fest in Red Wing. The two-day festival includes more than 160 bands performing at 21 different venues. This year's lineup includes Dessa, Charlie Parr, Dosh, People Brothers Band and more.

Richfield Winter Market
Summer still be far off, but you can still enjoy the atmosphere of a farmer's market. Pick up fresh produce and other foods during the Richfield Winter Market. The event will include 13 different vendors and live music.

Mill City Indoor Winter Market
Find locally grown produce, as well as other food items during the Mill City Farmers Market indoor winter market. The market hosts more than 40 local farmers, food makers and artists.

Extreme Horse Skijoring at Canterbury Park
Watch skiers dodge obstacles while being pulled by horses during extreme horse skijoring at Canterbury Park. While skijoring, skiers can reach speeds up to 40 mph.

Phalen Freeze Fest
Celebrate winter during the Phalen Freeze Fest in St. Paul. The event will include ice fishing, fire building, arts and crafts, cooking, kicksleds and more.

Winter Beer Dabbler
Beer fans rejoice! This weekend marks the Winter Beer Dabbler at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. The event hosts more than 180 breweries and cideries, who will be pouring more than 600 beers and ciders. The Winter Beer Dabbler includes live music and a silent disco.
