An umbrella may be wise for Minnesotans heading out for the day Wednesday.

KSTP meteorologist Wren Clair says a high of 40 is expected, with rain falling during the day. The rain is expected to turn into snow later on at night.

Clair says temperatures are still above average by a large margin this time of year. The precipitation will be falling at a light rate, so not a lot of accumulation is expected late as temperatures freeze over.

Temperatures will hang around in the 30s to finish up the week. Beginning this weekend, snow will be back in the forecast, lasting through Christmas on Tuesday.
