Officials said Carter made it through a loading dock and into the tunnel at the Terminal 1 light rail station before being arrested at the Terminal 2 station.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center due to self-inflicted injuries, an airport spokesperson said. He then fled the hospital before being arrested by Minneapolis police.

The criminal complaint states Carter took off his coat during the pursuit, and inside the coat were several rounds of 9 mm ammunition. Carter is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to a 2007 burglary conviction.
