Summer Harvest for Kids: MATTER box teams up with Readmobile to help kids succeed

May 21, 2019 01:33 PM

The hunger relief nonprofit, MATTER, is reaching kids in a brand new way this summer. They're teaming up with Scott County Library's Readmobile.

"Our goal is to be able to provide additional assistance whether it's access to books, access to early-learning activities, access to healthy snacks, just anything that can help kids get ready to read and be able to succeed," said Ally Addison with Scott County Libraries.

The Readmobile offers books and literacy programs, while the MATTER Box offers healthy snack packs and educates kids on the importance of nutrition.

"Statistics say that today's kids may not live as long as their parents, so we want to do what we can to activate healthy eating by giving them this. It shows them some options that are better for them," said Brian Numainville with MATTER.

You can help MATTER feed even more kids this summer by getting involved in our Summer Harvest for Kids campaign

Proceeds benefit both MATTER and the Food Bank in their efforts to make sure no child goes hungry this summer.
