Saturday marks the opening of warm-weather stream trout fishing season in Minnesota.
A release from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said brook trout and splake fishing also opens on Lake Superior and its tributary streams that have no posted boundaries.
Minnesota has around 3,800 miles of designated trout streams. The release said the state's four coldwater hatcheries produce more than 1.7 million fingerlings and yearlings for stocking each year.
Those fishing on designated trout waters must have trout validation in addition to a fishing license.
