The state patrol reported a Ford pickup truck - driven by 42-year-old Wesley Cemenski, from Princeton - was traveling southbound on Highway 169 in the left lane. A Chrysler Pacifica, driven by 77-year-old Albert Swen from Elk River, was attempting to cross westbound over the southbound lanes of Highway 169 to 221st Avenue NW.

The Chrysler pulled out and was struck by the Ford, the report states. Both vehicles then went off the road, striking a sign and ending up on 221st Avenue NW, on the west side of Highway 169.

The Chrysler was also carrying a 68-year-old woman from Elk River, identified as Victoria Lynette Swen.

Albert and Victoria Swen were pronounced dead following the crash, according to the state patrol.

Cemenski, the driver of the Ford, was taken to Mercy Hospital with injuries not considered to be life threatening.

The state patrol says road conditions were dry at the time of the crash and stated alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
