ABC affiliate WDAY-TV reported an address search linked an assistant Otter Tail County attorney, 41-year-old Ryan Cheshire, to an apartment at 1447 Patterson Loop.

WDAY-TV reported court records show Cheshire was recently divorced from his wife, Sarah Cheshire, an attorney at Karkela, Hunt & Cheshire in Fergus Falls.

One of Cheshire's partner at the firm confirmed that she had died.

Authorities have not provided any other details, but say the public is not at risk. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
