St. Paul police, along with the St. Paul School District, are investigating an incident which started on the campus of Hazel Park Preparatory Academy and ended down the street at a fast food restaurant.

Officers were called to the middle school at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night after a year end basketball banquet for the girls team had just ended.  According to reports, an eighth grader, her sister and their mother reportedly confronted a longtime teacher, Janelle Walker, over alleged bullying.

Walker was assaulted and police arrested Rachael Anderson, the student's sister 19-year-old, for assault.  Anderson was wanted on two previous warrants of terrorist threats and brawling.

Delores Henderson, principal at Hazel Park Preparatory Academy, called the incident "out of the ordinary."

However, the violence didn't stop at the school.  Later Wednesday night, the eighth grader and her mom became the target of another family's fury and fists.

They were inside of Pappy's on Maryland Avenue, waiting to catch a bus, when a teenager and an older woman approached them and asked about the earlier altercation at school.  That woman and the teen left. The then teen returned later with a man who headed straight for the eighth grader's mom.

An employee at Pappy's shared what she saw.

"Next thing you know, I heard the lady scream for help and I turned around and see that she got punched on the face and the girl got on top of her punching her on the back," the employee, who did not want to be identified, said.

Police confirm they are investigating and looking for that man.

On Friday, the St. Paul City Attorney's Office declined to file charges against Anderson.

The principal said both the teacher and the eighth grader are expected back at school on Tuesday.

A study by the U.S. Department of Education determined 6 percent of teachers in Minnesota report being physically assaulted.
