Minnesota's baseball community is mourning the death of the daughter of St. Paul Saints owner Mike Veeck and his wife Libby.

Rebecca Veeck passed away yesterday in Charleston, South Carolina at the age of 27. She lost a long battle with Batten disease— a nervous system disorder that gets worse over time and is usually fatal by the time a person is in their teens.

Mike Veeck owns the St. Paul Saints and the Charleston Riverdogs. Rebecca often came to games when she was in town and was well known at the ballpark.

In a statement, the Saints tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS:

"Our hearts break for the Veeck family. Rebecca has been a part of the Saints family since she was old enough to talk. Her smile and joy warmed the hearts of those she met. Rebecca will truly be missed."

Funeral arrangements for Rebecca are pending.
