The St. Paul Police Department is trying to find new leads in a cold case five years after a young girl was brutally beaten and sexually assaulted.

On May 2, 2016, near the intersection of Park Street and Cook Avenue, the five-year-old was attacked while waiting for a school bus.

The girl’s attacker has never been caught.

"We’re hoping that maybe this brings some of those people that maybe were in this area or lived here at the time or coming to the area, maybe it puts it in their brain again and puts it in the front of their memory and they think about it," St. Paul Police Sgt. Scott Sandell said. "Also maybe something that didn’t make sense at the time when they reflect on it maybe it will make sense now and they’ll pick up that phone and call us."

Anyone who has information regarding the incident is asked to contact the St. Paul Police Department.

The little girl is now 10 and still suffers from the attack. A GoFundMe has been set up for her and her family.
