St. Paul Police investigate 'brazen' armed robbery of popular grocery store

St. Paul Police are looking for suspects after an armed robbery at a popular Mexican grocery store.

The crime happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday at El Burrito Mercado on Cesar Chavez Street.

Police say two masked gunmen ordered staff and customers to drop to the floor and told them to give up their wallets and cell phones.

The suspects got away, but police say no one was hurt; only a handful of people were in the store at the time, and everyone did what they were told.

"This is a very brazen crime," St. Paul Police Sgt. Mike Ernster said. "When somebody is demanding things in this situation, the best thing to do is to go along with the demands, give them what they are asking for so nobody gets hurt."

St. Paul Police are asking for anyone with information in the crime to give them a call. They have not released store surveillance video of the crime and are not saying how much money was taken.
