St. Paul man who stole a vehicle with a 3-year-old inside sentenced

A St. Paul man who pleaded guilty to stealing a vehicle with a 3-year-old inside was sentenced Wednesday.

According to court documents, 29-year-old Miguel Tomas Rea is expected to serve a 38-month sentence. He has received credit for servicng 210 days.


Rea entered an amended guilty plea in the theft of a motor vehicle charge as part of a plea agreement.

According to a criminal complaint, officers were called Aug. 3, 2018 to a Holiday Gas Station at 200 Wabasha Street in St. Paul on a report a stolen vehicle with a 3-year-old in the back seat.

The complaint said police reviewed surveillance footage from the gas station and were able to identify the suspect as Rea. 

Rea was then arrested later that month when he crashed a vehicle in White Bear Lake while fleeing law enforcement, according to the complaint.
