On April 15, St. Paul police responded to 1797 Benson Ave in St. Paul in response to a report of an assault. The caller stated a male victim was badly injured and was unresponsive. When police arrived, the victim, later identified as 33-year-old Matthew Richard Schramm, was found dead on the back bedroom floor, the complaint states.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Officer determined Schramm was killed by a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was homicide.
Authorities used surveillance footage, along with witness testimonies, to locate Richardson who denied having any conflict with Schramm, but admitted to having visited Schramm's address for parties in the past.
