The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office took a unique approach toward generating more tips in the 1993 unsolved murder of 76-year-old William Clapp.

Investigators brought Clapp's familiar red stagecoach, with a photo of him on both sides, to the "Good Neighbor Days" parade Sunday in Roberts, Wisconsin and asked the public to contact them if they have any information about his murder.

Clapp was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head in his home on an 800-acre farm a few miles east of Hudson, Wis., in 1993.

Investigators said there was no forced entry, no missing money, no stolen property and no clear motive and they are using Clapp's beloved stagecoach in parades this summer throughout St. Croix County asking the public for help solving the cold case.

St. Croix County Sheriff, Scott Knudson, told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS his investigators are continuing to follow up on every lead they get and they hope the fond memories of Clapp's stagecoach will prompt someone to talk.

"We need help and we think this community where many grew up riding in Mr. Clapp's stagecoach will respond," Knudson said. "We do know that Clapp probably knew his killer because the evidence suggests that and it is a key part of our case."

For those that know something concerning the case, St. Croix County investigators said they would like those to say something and report any information to the Sheriff's Office regarding the Clapp murder investigation.
