So Minnesota: St. Paul bowling alley to donate thousands of $1 bills to charity

Most of us carry cash with a few dollar bills in our wallet.

Cash is king at one Saint Paul bowling alley and dollar bills aren't only in the register, they cover the walls.

Owner Mike Runyon says the tradition started a decade ago, after a woman put up one dollar on the ceiling. Now thousands of one dollar bills cover, the bar, ceiling and walls.

"She put a dollar on the ceiling, so when she came back she could have an adult beverage," Runyon said. "It kind of stayed up there and people just kept adding on to them."

During the holidays this year, the bowling alley plans to take down half of the dollars and donate them to charity.

"It's always nice to give back and I think you know it's the old Christmas it's better to give than receive kind of thing," Runyon said.

If you'd like to add a dollar to the walls of Ran Ham Lanes. it's located next to the Nook restaurant on Hamline Avenue across from Cretin Derham High School.
