Sometimes a loved one can really help in a time of need.

One family in the Mille Lacs County town of Pease came together to keep a tradition running.

For the last 25 years, Gina Thompson’s mother has owned the Pease Cafe.

However, in the last few years, Thompson’s mother has thought about selling the business after she got sick, and two of her children passed away.

Thompson moved home last year from North Dakota to take over the restaurant.

"I just wanted to keep it the way mom did," Thompson said. "Helping mom out was really important because she’s been the rock for so many years, and I wanted to return the favor (and) start taking care of mom now."

Thompson hopes to continue the family tradition of running a family restaurant for years to come.
